Privacy policy

Effective October 10, 2026

This policy covers the PhotoEscape app for Mac and the photoescape.app website, both run by Farspeak Labs LLC ("we"). The short version: your photos and exports never leave your Mac, and we don't track you.

Your photos and exports

PhotoEscape reads your export and writes repaired copies on your Mac. It never uploads photos, videos, exports or their metadata, and it never asks for your Google or Snapchat login. The reports it writes (change log and couldn't-fix list) stay in the folder you choose.

If you use Add to Photos, PhotoEscape asks macOS for permission to add to your Photos library. It only adds items and the albums it creates; it doesn't read or change anything else in your library. If you use iCloud Photos, Apple syncs what's added under Apple's own terms.

What the app sends over the internet

The app goes online for two things only:

  • License activation and checks. When you enter a license key, and when you open the app (at most once a week), PhotoEscape sends the key and your Mac's name (for example "Ryan's MacBook Pro") to Polar, which issues our license keys. The name lets you tell your two activated Macs apart when managing them.
  • Update checks. PhotoEscape periodically downloads a list of available versions from photoescape.app. That request includes your IP address and the app's version number, as any web request does. No other information about your Mac is sent.

The app contains no analytics, advertising, or tracking code.

Buying PhotoEscape

Purchases are handled by Polar (polar.sh), our merchant of record. Polar collects your name, email, billing details and payment information under its own privacy policy, and shares with us what we need to support your purchase: your name, email address, order details and license key. We never see your full card details.

The website

photoescape.app is hosted by Cloudflare, which processes visitors' IP addresses and request data to deliver and protect the site. We don't use cookies, analytics or advertising trackers. Our pages load an icon font from unpkg.com, which receives your IP address when it serves the file.

Email

If you email [email protected], we receive your message through Cloudflare Email Routing and keep it to help you and to keep a record of support requests.

How long we keep information

We keep order and license records for as long as your license is active and as required for tax and accounting, and support emails for as long as they're useful for helping you. We never sell personal information.

Your choices and rights

You can ask us to show, correct or delete the information we hold about you by emailing [email protected]. Deleting your purchase records may mean we can no longer restore your license. You can deactivate PhotoEscape on a Mac at any time from the app or from Polar's customer portal.

Children

PhotoEscape isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from them.

Changes

If we change this policy, we'll update this page and its effective date. Significant changes will also be noted in the app's release notes.
