Terms of use

Effective October 10, 2026

These terms are an agreement between you and Farspeak Labs LLC ("we") for the PhotoEscape app for Mac and the photoescape.app website. By downloading, buying or using PhotoEscape, you agree to them.

The free scan and the license

PhotoEscape is free to download and use for scanning exports. Repairing exports and adding them to Apple Photos require a license key. A license gives you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use PhotoEscape on up to two Macs you own or control. It includes all updates within version 1; future major versions may be sold separately.

Buying

Purchases are processed by Polar, our merchant of record, and are also subject to Polar's terms. Prices are shown before you pay and include or add taxes as shown at checkout. Refunds follow our refund policy.

Your photos

Your photos and exports remain yours. PhotoEscape works on copies and never changes your original export, but you're responsible for keeping your own backups. Some exports are missing information that can't be recovered; PhotoEscape lists those items rather than guessing, and estimates such as inferred time zones are labeled in its reports.

What you agree not to do

• Share, sell or publish license keys, or use one key on more Macs than it allows.
• Remove or work around the license check, or redistribute modified copies of the app.
• Reverse engineer the app, except where the law allows it despite this restriction.

Ending a license

A license is revoked if its purchase is refunded or charged back, or if it's used in breach of these terms. You can stop using PhotoEscape at any time.

Other companies

Google Photos and Google Takeout are trademarks of Google LLC. Snapchat is a trademark of Snap Inc. Apple, Mac, macOS and Photos are trademarks of Apple Inc. PhotoEscape isn't affiliated with or endorsed by Google, Snap or Apple. Exports and services from those companies can change without notice, which may affect what PhotoEscape can repair.

Warranty disclaimer

PhotoEscape is provided "as is" and "as available". To the extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We don't promise that every export can be fully repaired.

Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, we aren't liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for lost data, and our total liability for any claim relating to PhotoEscape is limited to the amount you paid for it.

Law and changes

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Wisconsin, USA, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer protection laws that apply to you. We may update these terms; the effective date above shows the latest version, and changes don't apply retroactively to purchases already made.
